6 months

Six months ago today, this wonderful, crazy, adorable little boy joined our little family. It has been such a fun ride, and we are looking forward to the next six months...and many, many more!

Just another Sunday

Daniel got a new carseat! He outgrew his old one...big boy!

Annnnnnd...dad and Daniel had some playtime in church. I love those boys.

Indulge me for a moment...

So, as expected, this lovely little blog of ours has turned into the "dote on Daniel" show. We love him, and think he's absolutely adorable, and like to post funny pictures and videos about him.

But it has become necessary to take a break from the doting mother role, and play the part of the adoring wife. I just need to talk about Stephen for a bit, since he's graduating from BYU this week! Summa cum laude with University Honors. HOORAY for him!

Not only is he graduating this week, BUT he gets to speak at the Commencement Exercises. That is the huge meeting, in the Marriott Center, with all the graduates and their families. He gets to read off a teleprompter, folks. I don't know how much more official you can get. So Thursday afternoon, send some good vibes his way. Thanks. Also, if you are there, make sure to watch for him! It will be kind of hard to miss him...he'll be on the big screens.

Also, I just need to talk for a minute about what comes next, because, well, that's a pretty big deal. Stephen has wanted to go into law for a very long time. He has worked very hard (as evidenced above) and because of this has many, many wonderful opportunities. He applied to fourteen law schools, because everyone loves options, right? The acceptances started with Duke, William & Mary, UCLA, UT-Austin, and Michigan. We were blown away by that. Great scholarships, wonderful options. But then, in rolled a real doozy. Harvard. We were excited by that option. Next came Stanford. Wow wow wow. That was the dream. We were over the moon. He continued to get accepted at other tempting law schools. Chicago, Penn, Columbia, BYU, Cornell, and Virginia came knocking. For those of you keeping track, that is 13/14. One elusive school. Yale.

With an acceptance at Yale, Stephen would have what is known in the law school world as the "Trifecta." Harvard, Yale, Stanford. The top three schools in the nation. Not many people can claim this accomplishment. Yale only admits about 250 people a year. When you compare that to Harvard's 800, that's just not very many. So we kept our fingers crossed.

Well, my friends, I am happy to inform you that as of April 4th, Stephen is in at Yale! I am so proud of him and all of his many successes. He is a great example of hard work and determination.

We have yet to decide where we will end up, but it is great to have so many exciting options!

 But...what sort of mother would I be without posting at least a couple of pictures of Daniel? We have had quite the week recovering from chicken pox, but he has been such a good sport. It's been...fun? being stuck in the house all day. Needless to say, we've had a lot of playtime.

Caught him mid-yawn. He thought it would be really fun this morning to have play time at 4am. Soooo, we're all a little tired today.
